The use of Karbo Combo has proven to be very effective in field studies of the West Nile Virus in horses.
The West Nile Virus

The West Nile Virus is an arthropod-borne virus that causes central nervous disease in horses, as well as humans and birds. Sudden death is not common with the West Nile Virus, but euthanasia or death are normally the result from other complications caused by the virus such as pneumonia, cellulites, neuropathies, myopathies, and multi-organ failure.

The most common clinical signs include:

  • Muscle fasciculation
  • Change in mentation
  • Weakness
  • Cranial nerve deficits
Mortality rates are anywhere between 30% and 60% depending on the severity of the infection.
